a system of wheals and bAleces a.k.a. checks and balances

It was a landmark day in 9th grade civics. I collected the first assignment that had required both thought and fine motor skills to complete. 99.3% of my students failed miserably, in one or both categories. One hundred forty-two 13-year-olds. Four hundred sixty-five thousand spelling errors. It's a wonder I can read it at all.

Following is a partial list of examples with accompanying translations.

dudie [duty]
leagl [legal]
afishels [officials]
positent [politician]
legitastor [legislature]
enprizzoment [imprisonment]
britten [Britain]
petishen [petition]
burgers [Burgesses]
consumurs [customs]
Amirecain [American]
origain [original]
precieded [precedents]
ase muting [assembly]
death [debt]
wheals [checks]
wheeler [checks]

I really don't know what happened with those last two.

God help the English language.
