I've noticed that almost all of my blog posts are prefaced in much the same manner. You know, the typical "I'm sorry for not posting, blah blah blah..." This time I'm gonna change it up a little. I'm not sorry. Not even a little bit. I've been busy. Quite happily occupied with other things. So there you have it.
The time elapsed since my last post has been, for the most part, fairly uneventful. I'm still just killing time until Colin moves into his apartment, I can move into my new room, and teacher workshops begin, all of which will take place in roughly a week. I like my summer schedule, and I'm taking full advantage of the last few days that I'll get to sleep in past 5:30am.
I must have some notable events to talk about. Let's brainstorm...
Canoe work is going well. Dad spent the past few days building the base (called the strongback) for the boat ribs to attach to. I've got the ribs all cut out and ready to go. Once we get it all together, prep work will be done and we can start building the actual boat, which will involve very long strips of wood and lots of glue. Dad's been taking a few pictures of the process. Perhaps I'll post them here when they get interesting. Right now they are mostly of piles of paper and wood and me using power tools. Exciting stuff.
Yesterday I auditioned for and today I got accepted to sing with this group. They've got a decent reputation, and the audition was a heck of a lot harder than anything I've ever had to do before (What key is this in?? Hell if I know...), so I imagine it'll shape up to be pretty good. Mom plays with their orchestra (yeah, it's cool, they have an orchestra) and I've heard some of their recordings and they sound excellent. So I'm pretty excited about it.
Otherwise, I've just been hanging around, doing mostly nothing. I've been hanging out a bit with Ben lately, and that's been good fun. Since he's a fellow West Wing fan, we always have something to fall back on when we're bored. We saw a cute movie tonight, Valiant. I've heard it's gotten poor reviews, but I thought it had some pretty good WWII jokes.
After the movie, we came home and watched Northwest Airlines bite the dust on live TV. I'll be curious to see exactly how fast they file for bankruptcy. Likely the economy around the metro here won't fare too well either. That's a lot of people out of a job.
Anyway, I'm running out of things to say. I should just post this so y'all can read it. Cheers.
