Ah, it's nice to have a bedroom again. There was a period of days here when I barely had a bed; everything was so torn up from painting and there was stuff everywhere. But I've moved into my new room, got most of my things put where I want them, and am generally enjoying myself.
I had four days of teacher workshops last week from 7am until whenever they happened to get done, which was usually around 2:30. It was rather exhausting; lots of new information to take in. And I'm PowerPointed out. If ever that program has been overused, it was this week at Rosemount High School. I do really like the faculty and staff. Everyone is really nice and friendly. I think I've got the names of the social studies department down, so I'm in good shape there. Tuesday night we had freshman orientation, and I ended up meeting probably a quarter of my little 9th graders and their parents. Once again, lots of very pleasant people, and the kids are a hoot. I think I'm really gonna enjoy them.
I'm starting right off the bat here. I get two days to get broken in, and then my teacher has to be gone for two mornings, so I'm taking his classes straight off. Which means I get to do the class periods in which we lay down the ground rules. I'm glad I get to do that, because that will automatically give me some credibility.
And I found out my teacher has a 7th hour prep, which means I'll be done teaching every day by 1:20. That will be fabulous, especially because the first Friday of class, I have an eye doctor's appointment at 2:40, which would be cutting it a bit close otherwise.
I guess there's not much else. I'd like to say congratulations to Timmy and Ryan on making Nordic, and I'm sure countless others from whom I haven't yet heard news. Wendy, you are welcome to come harass me any time you please. Oh, and after a brief hiatus, I've gotten back in the habit of reading the news. Take a look here for the latest.
That's all. I'm going to dismantle my desk again, do some switching of computer hardware, and a bit more experimenting with the painting project.
